Addictions

The choirs we are in have a series of appearences the coming time so I'm rehearseling a lot.
I developed a new addiction: ear training and learn how to recognize relative pitch.
I use a very nice freeware program, functional eartrainer, which has an interesting philosophy.
Further I started with rithm exercises, which I found here.

Usually I manage to stay away from mainstream hypes like Sudoku and the like, but this is fun.
The addiction will probably not last very long because the little program works so well that I will achieve my goals in a few weeks.
Margriet couldn't resist the Sudoku hype.

So not much chess lately.

  2. I've always been a great fan of The Doors. With Jim Morrison that is.
Riders on the storm is my favorite.

  3. I've tried your opening repertoir for black playing in simuls vs IM's and FM's on ICC. Result is 5 draws in 6 games! But I have a couple of questions to you.

    1. Have you found something interesting on d4 Nf6 Nf3?

    2. I have problem with 1.e4 d5 2.exd Nf6 3. Bb5+ Bd7 4.Bc4 If then b5 and a5 my kingside is not developed and so i cant gain pawn back, if c6 dxc Nc6 then Nf3 doesnt allow e5 so no compensation for pawn. Maybe 3... Nd7? What would you play?

  4. Pomaranch,

    Ad 1.
I transpose to the Dutch Defense with
    1. d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 e6 3.c4 Ne4 followed by f5, Be7, O-O
It doesn't work miracles but it is playable.

    Ad 2.
    1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf6 3.Bb5+ Bd7 4.Bc4 b5 5.Bb3 a5 6.a3 Bg4 7.f3 Bc8 8.Nc3 Ba6 with later c6 and a strong attack. I'm very succesful with this variation.
