Bellon gambit

For no apparent reason I always have a lot of success with the Bellon gambit against the English.
(1.c4 Nf6 2.Nc3 e5 3. Nf3 e4 4. Ng5 b5!?)
I played against 1862.

This position was reached at move 19

Black to move.

Thanks to CTS I spotted here the winning combination almost immediately.
Can you find it?

Blacks wins a Bishop. Sweet. Good job.

  2. I did 4. ... Ne4 threathening mate. The computer says Ng4 is even better.

  3. I agree with Rxc3. Sorry, was this really the position, because I see no mate after Ne4.

  4. Tempo,

Hmmm. 4...Ng4? I'll have to look at that.

  5. Tempo,

    Shredder 10 gives:
    1... Rxc3 2. Bxc3 Nf4 3. Qh4 Nxe2+ 4. Kf1 Nxc3 5. Rxc3 Re4 6. Qg5 Kg7 7. Rcd3 h6 8. Qxf6+ Qxf6 9. Rxd5 *

He puts Black ahead by 7 pawns.

I think that is a better line.

  6. Jim,
    my opponent played 4. Kh1
What is the suggestion of Shredder after that?

  7. Mouse, it is just a threat. What threatens after 4. ... Ne4 is Qxh4 (removing the defender of f2) and Nxf2#
White can parry that with 5. Be1
Both my opponent and I didn't find that last move during the game. He is lost either way, but the threat made him resign in disgust.

  8. Tempo,

Well, if your opponent played 4. Kh1 then he's just asking for trouble.

At that point, Ng4 is the correct move according to Shredder and there is the mate threat just like you said. Anyway he goes he still loses the Queen from there.

    Good job.

  9. Space,
that is a good idea! I never thought of it to do that for sole diagrams. For whole games I use a javascript viewer.
