Focus on pattern recognition

Do you recognize the pattern in the picture above?
Tip 1: it's a stereogram, so you have to focus about 40 cm behind your screen.

Tip 2: it symbols what I have been fighting the past 4 years.

The picture above is one of the best stereograms I have ever seen. But since I have looked at stereograms for about 3 hours on the web, I have difficulty to get my usual focus back:)

  1. Hmm... Just when i thought i was special by almost instantly making out the sniffing on the ground dalmatian in BDK's post. I don't see sh.t in this one though :-(

Interesting how the brain seems to work.

So tell me, what is it?

  2. It's not a matter of pattern recognition but it is a matter of vision-technique. You have to focus behind the screen. That is difficult since we are not used to it. Once you see it, it's much more clear and evident then the dalmatian! It's a typical dutch object. Don Q fought against it too:)

  3. Very neat mill!

Also, CONGRATS on hitting 70,000 on CTS! Very impressive!

  4. Dutch object? I know what you mean, but for me it is rather a part of an aircraft. The process when it slowly comes out of the background pattern is really impressive.

  5. Nice. I was wondering if these would work on computer monitors.

  6. Ok if you say it's a windmill, but it sure looks like the nose on a P-51. . .

  7. J'adoube,
I had to have a reason to post it, and a windmill is realated to the Knights Errant via Don Q. If it's the nose of a P-51 it is after a crash in the mud. But I don't expect a plane to crash tail first. Unless it was autogiro-ing and hung at its propellor. Oh, well. . .

  8. I have tried for hours and have NEVER been able to do these darn things. I have no problem focusing "beyond" the picture, but just can't see a darn thing. :(

  9. Ron, it took me a long time to learn it. Now it's a piece of cake. It's worth the effort, I think. If you google around, you will find advice. SOME advice will work. Make sure you use a big picture. Head right and straight in all directions for the picture. An armlenght distance to the monitor worked best for me.
