Slowing down

 So how can the word salad monster (wsm) and the vulture work together in harmony? Apparently perception is key for the vulture. The wsm wants to go on to the next problem since he wants to do 100 problems before dinner. Otherwise his scheme will not work.

I noticed with clay modeling  that when you are patient enough, at a certain moment the mind's eye takes over. The clay remembers system 1 how the feminine characteristics look like, it is projected before the mind's eye, and your hands start to materialize them.

There are two ways to improve. To invent new strategies (system 2) and to boost perception (system 1). In the first category I am making huge progress lately, but observation showed that I don't make progress with system 1.

It is probably best to let system 2 blow off steam when you are busy with a problem, in order to let him invent every strategy he can think of. There might be something useful in it. Only when system 2 is ready, there is time for the vulture to spiral around and to project things before the mind's eye.

When the problem starts to look simple, you are ready, I suppose.

    The moment when you are patient enough is when the “teacher” appears. The moment when “the mind's eye takes over” is when the “teacher” disappears.

    The “AHA!” moment (Gestalt or enlightenment) occurs when the boundary between learning and teaching dissolves.

  2. I consider system 1 and system 2 to operate of the the same level. With your center of discrimination you decide whether these systems come up with something useful.

    In meditation you give them a job (repeat the mantra) so their restless nature doesn't get in the way.

  3. I struggle to understand the logic (if any) used by White in positions such as the following one. I don’t think the play was caused by time pressure, given the limited number of moves made in the game and the time limit given, but that cannot be ruled out.

    Black, on his previous move, added an attacker to the B.A.D. e5-square, gaining superiority [3:2}. Both White and Black Queens are LPDO. A potential Black LoA is e7-e1, capturing a Rook WITH CHECK. It seems “natural” to add a defender to the e5-square with 21. f4, restoring the B.A.D. relationship [3:3]. 21. Nc6 as played in the game seems to be based on a tactical hallucination(?), which is #23(!) on GM Stockfish’s radar after 3 hours.

    Was this decision based on “SEEing” this puzzle as a tit-for-tat situation, or (more likely) getting enmeshed with coordinating various tactical themes and miscalculating? After all, 21. Nc6 is a discovered double attack against BQe7, quite a strong move! If Black plays 21… Rxh5, White can capture the BQe7 with 22. R(or N)xe7. Did White overlook that BQe7 is a “desperado” after White’s Knight move? Did he overlook that Black can get rid of the “desperado” with tempo via a Zwischenschach? Maybe it was just that the “word salad monster” got tangled up in the “shredded lettuce” of tactics – and White got “shredded.”
